Hi ej,
yes see your point , would favor frames to the out side,
and your local wether conditions favor plumbing well away from the external walls.
Dip or slip to the external in cavity...seems never to give good cover of the straw,
nor a good vermin  seal, hence my preferance for ply or osb.

also playing with recycleing plasterboard ( sheet rock) and fibre cement sheet ( fc sheet) as a sand repalcement.  

so much fun to be had so little time.
