Dear GSBNers

First a warning: this is not about SBC.
It is about sustainable textile materials, for the fashion market..

I am sending it to you because one of my neighbours has now evolved from the
little girl living next door to this great young woman who is about to
explore the world.
And her first major project involves mapping sustainable resources. In the
big world.
And her topic is a bit unusual, so I have promised her to pass her inquiery
on to my unusual global "family".

So there you are.

You can contact Thea at: thea_hestbjerg at hotmail.com

We are two students at TEKO Design and Business in Denmark. We are
preoccupied with sustainable fashion and are working on a study travel
focusing on sustainable textile materials.

The project, Ephemera Textile Travel, is a five months trip in spring 2011.
The purpose of this project is to collect knowledge about the manufacture
and innovation of sustainable materials. Afterwards, we will communicate our
knowledge to other students and companies to bring sustainable development
into focus.
The project can later be followed on a website, which is under construction.

We will be travelling around the world to visit production, laboratories and
universities to learn about the lifecycles of fibres. We want to experience
processes from developing/growing raw materials to fibre and make a
qualitative study of different fibres’ characteristics.
Some of the materials we would like to deal with are bamboo, soy, milk
protein, recycled fibres, organic silk and organic cotton etc.

We would be grateful if you could help us with contacts that are relevant
contacts for our project (e.g. universities, laboratories and suppliers
etc.).

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely
Kamilla Gitter and Thea Hestbjerg
