Hi Guys

I was recently asked by an energy rating assessor for reliable sources for u-value data/thermal performance for straw-bale.

I know the biggest problem the establishment sees is that a bale of straw from Arizona may have different properties to a bale of straw from Devon. I presume that the type of straw (barley, wheat, etc.) may have an impact. The type of baler may have an impact. And possibly even the growing season?

I'm sure there are tonnes of great resources and great scientific studies (I'm pretty new to pure straw, as we have tended to concentrate more on mashing our straw into cob!). Ones that are most relevant to damp Ireland would be appreciated.

Cheers

Feile
