[GSBN] Admin: Proposal for Non-posting subscribers

I think it's a wonderful idea, and all the suggestions for wording are great! 

Perhaps, in the interest of not offending people, someone could come up with phrasing for making the reason for keeping the list small a bit more explicit? Something about how it is a popular topic and the number of posters is limited to keep on those busy experts who get too overwhelmed by the flood of emails on the general straw building lists... 

Also, Derek makes a good point and if we want to be *really* conscientious we could try to take into account, not only the human brains of people whose first language is something other than English, but also the quirks of language-translation software. For example, if you use Babelfish to translate something into French it will produce something full of contractions but if you copy that and past its own exact words back in, Babelfish cannot translate contractions - not even the ones it created. Also, simple short words often have multiple shades of meaning that are clear to humans in context but get translated by computers into things that are completely nonsensical. Longer words with more precise meanings can often, ironically, make things simpler. I could go on...
