[GSBN] Sticking clay on top of lime?

Hi all,

I have an unusual request. A couple who has been repairing an old stone home with lime mortar want to finish with clay plasters inside. However, although the existing finish is quite irregular, most of the stones are covered with lime or lime wash. Has anyone tried sticking a clay plaster on top of lime? I have never done that. I am worried that over time it will fall off.

I had thought to add a bit of lime to the clay mix in order to help it stick, but I would rather avoid it if possible. It would be great to be able to work without gloves…

I am attaching photos of the lime-finished wall, in case that helps.

Thanks!

Rikki
