I've never met Alex and know nothing about him(her?) but I do know that
(s)he has been SB-active in Israel for a long, long time and I gather,
from his(her) message below that (s)he is not a member of GSBN.

It would seem to make sense to have an Israeli representative on the
"Global" SBN.
No ?

Hence I nominate Alex for membership. (Not sure if Alex would care to be a
member of any group that would have me as a member, but there you go.)

As el Lupo would say, "have a squiz" at Alex's website (link below) to see
what (s)he's up to on Kibbutz Lotan .

Dear John and Rob,
In continuation of the string on embodied energy, this email about ICE may
be of utility. If you think it is, please feel free to forward to the GSBN
list.
Thanks,
Alex

Subject: The Inventory of Carbon & Energy - Recent Developments

Dear Alex Cicelsky,

Apologies to those who received the previous email, which was sent in
error.

There have been several recent developments regarding the University of
Bath's Inventory of Carbon & Energy (ICE).

1.	A journal paper regarding the ICE database and the topic of embodied
energy and carbon has been published in the Institute of Civil Engineers
Journal 'Energy'. An abstract and full copies of the paper are available at
http://dx.doi.org/10.1680/ener.2008.161.2.87
<http://dx.doi.org/10.1680/ener.2008.161.2.87> . The full reference is:
Hammond, Geoffrey P. and Craig I. Jones, 2008. 'Embodied energy and carbon
in construction materials', Proc. Instn Civil Engrs: Energy, 161 (2):
87-98.
If you use the ICE database we would be very grateful if you could
reference
this article.
2.	The ICE database is undergoing an update. Please contact us if you
have any papers, reports or other work that you would like to draw our
attention to (either your own or work that you have permission to share).
All new data will be gratefully received and could benefit both existing
and
future ICE database users.
3.	The next version of ICE is expected to be published in a hardcopy
format. A free pdf version of ICE and an additional excel file will be made
available. Hardcopies will be available directly from the publisher (a
not-for-profit company) for a reasonable cost. Further details will be made
available closer to publication. However if you have any recommendations
regarding format or content of the hardcopy version please let us know.
4.	To assist with data collection and provide additional information
regarding the ICE database an 'ICE Wiki' has been developed, see
https://wiki.bath.ac.uk/display/ICE/Home+Page
<https://wiki.bath.ac.uk/display/ICE/Home+Page> . Here you may find a few
new references to work that has yet to be integrated into the ICE database.
Furthermore, if you are aware of new studies or wish to submit your own
work
(or a weblink) for the ICE database users you are free to modify this Wiki.

We look forward to your valuable feedback.

Regards,

Craig Jones
