I set up a grassroots, integrated agricultural project in the tribal hinterland of central India to implement my learnings, 20 years back.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br class="">Amongst many areas of my interest and concern has been building with local materials - paddy is the main crop of the region. Basic, traditional, earthen structures make for the housing of the poor and the marginalized peasantry. And there is an age-old tradition whereby the locals must repair their dwellings every year before monsoon sets in.
