northwest Alberta. The organizers envision the centre as a social and cultural
focal point for residents of the surrounding villages and farms to gather
for all manner of events. </DIV>

<DIV>A week of wet weather has delayed the pouring of the floor and consequently
stalled the bale raising. Most of the work to date has been done by local
volunteers, with a sizeable group of trades men and women returning home to help
at a fraction of their normal wages.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The timber frame is made of local beatle killed pine and the straw is from
the farms around the town of Demmitt. Yes, Demmitt, Alberta.</DIV>

shape. This month we will be putting up the straw bale walls.

Community Centre promises to be a destination for live performing arts in the

expectations of what life in rural communities could
