Hello everyone,
I have a friend who is building a house with prefabricated straw bale
walls, but she is having a lot of trouble finding available labor for the
clay plastering. So, instead of plastering the interior walls with clay,
she decided to cover them with 12mm OSB boards and then apply a thin
plaster made of marble dust, clay, and lime.
I visited the house on a very hot day and was surprised by how cool the
walls were, which means the thermal inertia is working well.
On the exterior, she covered the straw bale walls with wood fiber
insulation boards, plastered them with 10mm of NHL, and then applied
sprayed cork, which means the wall 'breathes' well through that layer.
What is your opinion on placing OSB on the interior side of the exterior
walls?
