Thank you Bill for your time and effort in writing to me.
I am a rural development subject matter expert and an alumnus of Schumacher
College of ecological learning and social change. I set up a grassroots,
integrated agricultural project in the tribal hinterland of central India
to implement my learnings, 20 years back.
Amongst many areas of my interest and concern has been building with local
materials - paddy is the main crop of the region. Basic, traditional,
earthen structures make for the housing of the poor and the marginalized
peasantry. And there is an age-old tradition whereby the locals must repair
their dwellings every year before monsoon sets in. Their houses have not
changed for millennia and they remain no more than minimalistic means of
protection from the elements during harsh weather conditions.
The challenge is how to make their homes and their lives better and keep
them from choosing cement and concrete, a trend which is now catching up.
I would love to be part of GSBN network to share notes, interact with the
illustrious community and possibly find solutions to issues of concern.
Hereby I would earnestly request the admin and community members to allow
me to be part of the community.
my regards

Hi Lalit,

Welcome! You can receive email from GSBN by signing up at
http://sustainablesources.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/gsbn. This will allow
you to read, but not respond to, GSBN discussions as they come in.

GSBN was established specifically to act as a forum for people actively
working on or performing technical research on straw bale construction and
other natural building techniques, to allow those involved at a deep level
to get beyond the "straw bale 101" questions which prevail on the beginner
forums. If you are a builder or researcher working in a related area,
please feel free to explain what you do and why you'd like to be a
participating member, and I'll let the group decide.

In the mean time, GSBN has over 20 years of discussions in the archives.
The easiest way to look through them is to do a Google search for your
topic in the form of "gsbn: earthquake" and follow the threads from there.

Hi there,
I have been directed to your site by GSBN network.
I wonder if I could be a part of a discussion platform that you may link me
up to exchange notes on the subject and enrich myself.

Your help on this will be much appreciated.
