Hi Mark
In 1996 Habitat Tucson (AZ.) in conjunction with the Tucson Chapter of
the National Urban League built 2 straw bale homes with (I can't lay my
hands on the actual report at this moment so the terminology may be
slightly off) assistance from a federal grant for innovative building
technology that was awarded by HUD. I'll try to find and forward any
relevant the report details. You might be able to get a copy of the
actual document from the Development Center for Appropriate Technology
http://www.dcat.net/
Tucson Habitat may also still have records of the project.
Good Luck
