On Tue, 7 Sep 2010, "Habib John Gonzalez" writ:
> community centre under construction in northwest Alberta
> Most of the work to date has been done by local volunteers, with a
> sizeable group of trades men and women returninghome to help at a
> fraction of their normal wages.
>
> The timber frame is made of local beatle killed pine and the straw is
> from the farms around the town of Demmitt. Yes, Demmitt, Alberta.
[snip] (to read the balance of Habib's message in its entirety, see the
GSBN List archive

My guess is that it's Ringo that's been going around killing the pine
trees because Sir Paul professes to be something of an environmentalist,
he and his previous wife having taken the time to come to Canada to slam
Newfoundlanders for their annual seal hunt.
Demmitt Alberta ?
S-a-a-ay ... isn't that just down the road from Tom's Lake (we're
everywhere, eh ?) and up the road from Weibo Ludwig's farm at Hythe,
Alberta ?
http://www.greenspiration.org/environ/articles/SurvivingWithWeibo.htm
... and just a bit further up the road from Edson Alberta, site of Rob
Jolly's old house, one of the first (if not the first) SBH in northwest
Alberta. (Monsieur Jolly being the author of a moisture monitoring report
on SBH done for CMHC Research , whoo, what, 10 or 15 years ago ?) but more
famously (IMO) the source of the phrase "Weibo wobbles but he doesn't get
knocked down ...".
Demmitt, Hythe and Edson, all within spitting distance of each other
(Alberta spittle-wise).
Before I ramble on any further, the point of this message (other than
wanting to say "Hayhowarya!" to Habib and BucketHead (Prelitz)) was to
suggest that given that this List has a global membership and that we are
are all communicating with each other using advanced computing devices
which have the ability to dip into this thing called the "WWW" which has
facilities like Bing Maps and Google Maps that enable everyone to zoom
into locations on satellite photos of surprising detail/clarity with a few
clicks of a mouse... perhaps in the future we might provide GPS
co-ordinates for the building sites mentioned in messages like Habib's ?
