Thanks and you're welcome! Nice to hear from you. Yes, things are rough in building departments these days. As for Kermit Robinson, I know him well and he's an ally in many ways. He is our ICC liaison to the USGBC Code Committee that I chair and is at the code hearings as a senior staff support for the process. Let him know about our longstanding relationship in the sb world. And good luck with your submittal!

THANKS so much David, Martin, and everyone involved! This further“legitimacy” helps so much. 
 
Our whole local building department was laid-off, so even though I havebeen working with straw in this county since 1998 (or at least trying to getthe first project passed since then), I am submitting this project (YAY- one isactually making it to submittal at least!) to an unknown quantity. Ironically,I think I left a message (about another code issue) last week for one of theICC engineers (Kermit Robinson)from LA. His message said he was at thehearings- so I assume he was a juror.

David Eisenberg just posted to FaceBook: "I'm in Chicago at the International Green ConstructionCode code development hearings and Martin Hammer's 'comment' on behalf of theCalifornia Straw Building Assoc. to incorporate straw bale construction intothis new code was approved by the committee as submitted by a vote of 8 to6!!!"
